Logistics inside:
World Cup Qatar 2022
By Rene Cardoso 01/09/23
Qatar hosted the world's most famous sporting event in history; the celebration of the 22nd FIFA World Cup. The event was an amazing spectacle that conclude with the new world champion: Argentina. But every succeed event was gotten by a Master Logistic Plan.
Qatar provided adequate housing, transportation, and security for all World Cup participants and visitors. Qatar completed its logistics plan, with the construction of new stadiums, hotels, and infrastructure. The country worked to improve its transportation and security systems in order to ensure a safe and successful World Cup.
The Venue: Qatar.
Qatar prepare its Master Logistic Plan because it will assure an extraordinary income with the visit of more than 1.8 millions of people (fans, football clubs executives and more..) As incredible this number of visitors is, that Qatar population is just 1.7 milions.
The firist piece of the Master plan was to increese the transport system capacities. The Hamad international Airport (HIA) expanded its annum passengers to over 58 millions.
Another piece, was the reopen of the Doha International Airport(DIA); to assure more than 100 flights per hour, the acquisition of 17 new routes and the capacity of have 3 takeoffs and landings at the same time.
Other challenge was made a plan with Qatar transport providers to assure conneectivity with airport, city and stadiums. Other elements that the plan mention is: traffic police, security, taxi, coach operations, and the develope of "carpools" across the city.
The country also pledged to invest in regional infrastructure, including a railway system linking the host cities and working with the most important shipping lines worldwide to import necessary goods into the country.
The total bill for those decade-long efforts has ballooned beyond $229 billions, but as the November start of the tournament grows nearer, foreign residents are starting to feel the pinch.
The End-to-End Logistics.
The Logistics was responsible for providing all of the necessary equipment and supplies for the event, as well as ensuring that everything is set up and ready to go before the first match kicks off.
But actually any kind of impove or even an optimisation was absolutlly "ancient" without an end-to-ed logistics focus. The environmental concerns make innovative any logistics improvement.
The end-to-end logistics means; that "Logistics covers the complete logistics cycle, starting with procurement and distribution, transport, delivery to the customer and ending with return logistics".
One of the end-to-end logistics imporovements was the Ras Abu Abound Stadium. A master Architect and Logistics piece; Ras Abu Aboud will receive a four-star Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS) certification.
The stadium, which is touted as the first-ever demountable and reusable FIFA World Cup stadium. It is defined also as a Transportable Stadium. The modular building blocks the stadium consists of are modified shipping containers, each containing fundamental stadium elements that can be quickly assembled and disassembled at various locations as required. After the competition, Qatar will provide more than 170,000 seats to nations in need of athletic infrastructure after the 2022 World Cup.
In addition, the environmental concerns developed a sustainability plan to make the competition completely carbon neutral. Even the stadiums energy will originate from a solar panel farm outside of Doha.
The 2022 FIFA World Cup may alter how future competitions are run and it was a great Logistics model to applied in other segments.
